Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Director of Finance (DDOF) at Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) to join an award-winning finance team, reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer.  

This is a senior leadership role responsible for the day to day delivery and continuous improvement of the finance directorate (finance, procurement and payroll) ensuring a high-quality provision of service is achieved, whilst maintaining KMPT’s history of a strong financial position.  This role will be a part of helping the Trust achieve its ambitions to transform mental health services across Kent and Medway by delivering significant transformation and improvement through close collaboration with care groups and senior leaders across the organisation and by shaping the financial strategy and planning for the Trust.

Main duties of the job

As the Deputy Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the delivery of effective, timely and accurate financial performance information for both operational and strategic purposes leading on the development of business planning across the Trust and with oversight of all aspects of financial management.

With a track record of delivery and resilience, you will be able to question and advise operational and clinical colleagues translating complex finance issues to non finance individuals having a system wide focus when it comes to patient care as you lead in the development of the Trusts financial strategy ensuring long term deliverable plans are agreed which enable financial sustainability.

You will be a strong leader and able to develop a strong team in a fast-paced environment, inspiring confidence and encouraging development and progression.

As an integral part of the senior leadership team the role will involve deputising for the Chief Finance Officer when required, covering the executive portfolio which includes Finance, IT, IG, Contracting, Performance and Information and Estates and Facilities as well as continuous liaison with internal and external stakeholders including reporting at Board level when required.

Each year they care for over 2,000 people in hospitals and 54,000 people in the community, employing over 3,600 people and are part of the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System to plan and deliver joined up health and care services to improve the lives of people across Kent and Medway.

This fantastic opportunity has arisen to cover a maternity leave and KMPT are open to either a fixed term contract or secondment for the right candidate.
